Description
This building is a shop with accommodation above, featuring Gothic detailing. It dates from the 19th century and has two storeys, with four bays facing High Street Inferior and one bay on the corner. The walls are painted brick, with some stonework, and it has a slate roof with arcaded eaves.
On the High Street side, there are four bays with pointed arches; the upper floor has horned sash windows with pointed heads, while the ground floor features shop windows and a doorway located in the narrower third bay. Gothic detailing is present at the springing of the arches. The corner bay includes an oriel window on the first floor, supported by corbelling and a cornice, and a doorway with a pointed head on the ground floor.
The return elevation has four bays similar to the High Street elevation. The rear elevation facing Steeple Lane is stuccoed and has horned sash windows. To the right, there is a gabled block with two windows on the first floor and one below; to the left, there is a three-window block with an altered pedimented doorcase in the third bay.
