Description
Ye Olde Cognac Public House is a three-storey building with a stuccoed front facing High Street. It features two windows and a hipped slate roof. The windows have sash glazing, with smaller 6-pane sashes on the second floor and larger 12-pane sashes on the first floor. The late 19th-century public house front has two windows, each consisting of two round-headed lights, and a central round-headed doorway with a blocked tympanum.
The rear elevation, which faces Church Lane, is roughcast and gabled. It includes a 9-pane sash window on both second floors, and on the first floor, there is a 12-pane sash window with a 9-pane sash window offset to the left. The ground floor features two Brecon Hopper windows.
Inside, there are cased ceiling beams on the first and second floors. An early 19th-century semi-elliptical staircase with stick balusters is likely an adaptation of an older newel stair. The building also has panelled doors, some of which on the second floor have fielded panels.
