Description
The barn range at Maes Mawr is a long structure built of stone rubble with a corrugated roof. The main barn features a deep two-storey hipped roof porch at the front, with a front extension to the right that has a catslide roof. To the left, there is a smaller extension that allows two rows of ventilation slits on the barn to remain visible.
To the north, there is a long cross wing with a stone base and a timber frame above, which is boarded. Attached to the left and sharing the same ridge but with a different pitch is a two-storey range, likely a byre with a loft above. This section has segmental arched openings on both floors and ventilation slits, with a widened entrance at the left end.
At the rear, the barn shows signs of alteration, including a blocked door opposite the main porch, loft openings under the eaves, a few ventilation slits, and unused lower double doors to the right. Attached to the south is a lower bayed range that has been altered and is now part of a large cattle shed with a corrugated roof. The gable end of this shed faces the lane and features a pitching eye and doorway. The farmyard is enclosed by a rubble wall along the lane. The interior was not inspected during the survey on 30th September 1997.
