Description
White Hart Bridge, also known as Canal Bridge No. 143, is a hump-back bridge made of rubble sandstone. It features a segmental arch with thin voussoirs and a low parapet topped with flat coping. The abutments curve outward on both sides, and the parapet includes square end piers. On the eastern side, there is a cast iron plaque with the bridge number cast in relief at the keystone position. The towpath runs under the bridge on the northern side and has a stone kerb, while on the southern side, there is a stringcourse that is roughly at water level.
This bridge rises to the west and is reinforced with metal ribs beneath the vault. It marks the southern boundary of the Talybont Basin and is adjacent to a long retaining wall that borders the basin to the south, with a weir located below. To the west, there is an aqueduct over the Caerfanell River. The western side does not have a visible stringcourse, and there is only one pier on the northwest side, with a concrete surface.
