Description

Grove House is a late 17th and early 18th century town house, with later Georgian alterations. It is a three-storey building with a three-window front of coursed rubble. The roof is hipped and covered in slate, featuring swept and boxed moulded eaves similar to those of the adjacent No. 17, a brick chimney stack to the right end, and two hipped dormers with casement windows. The upper floors have twelve-pane sash windows, except for a single window on the first floor to the right, all with voussoir lintels. An eroded stone tablet is located on the first floor to the left. A timber band extends from No. 17, running across the ground floor, where it is accompanied by a twelve-pane sash window next to a plain shop front. This shop front features two-light windows on either side of a double door.

The right end of the building has sash windows, most without glazing bars. The central entrance has a four-panelled door, flanked by a splayed bay and a two-light shop window with pilasters and a cornice.
