Description

The Butter Market is a Grade II listed building that resembles a small Doric temple. It features a rubble open colonnaded structure with three bays by nine. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, and there is a cornice and plain entablature above cylindrical columns that have entasis, resting on a rubble base. The building has higher entrances on the north and south sides, which are fitted with blocking courses and segmental arched openings that include voussoirs.

Inside, there is a six-bay timber roof supported by king-post trusses. A plaque on the south side indicates that the building was restored by members of the Warren Club in 1984 and was opened by Mr. Bert Breeze BEM.
