Description
The former Talybont Railway Station is a railway station that features a two-storey house on the right, accompanied by a small lower wing to the right and a former single-storey wing on the left that has been raised to include an attic storey. The building is constructed of coursed, occasionally snecked rockfaced stone with rockfaced dressings, including large quoins, diamond-shaped voussoirs, and lintel stones. It has a Welsh slate roof with grouped polygonal stacks at the ends and ridge, overhanging eaves, and decorative verges, along with mansard roofs on the wings.
The main facade presents a three-bay range of horned sash windows with bracketed sills. The windows are paired in the centre of the first floor and on either side of a former entrance bay that projects slightly; this former round-headed doorway has been altered to a window. To the left, the former wing is stepped back and features a very steeply pitched gabled porch, deep overhanging swept eaves with decorative bargeboards, a round-headed doorway, and small horned sash windows on the sides, along with a range of smaller sash windows. There is also a square-headed side entrance. At the rear, the dismantled railway runs alongside the building.
The interior has been converted to hostel accommodation.
