Description
The former railway station is an L-shaped single-storey building, comprising a platform building facing south and a wing that served as the Stationmaster’s house facing east towards the road. The platform elevation is nearly symmetrical, featuring a central projecting window bay made of ashlar stonework, while the rest of the elevation is rendered. The roof has been restored and includes gables on either side of the platform, each with a recessed cross at the apex. The windows are recessed and have 8-pane sashes, although some have been replaced with fixed lights. There are two blocked doorways that previously led to the Ladies’ waiting room and the entrance. The roof is covered with artificial slate and has a tile ridge along with decorative bargeboards. The eastern elevation of the house has two sash windows and a central panelled door. The chimneys are made of hammer-faced ashlar with capping. The building is painted in a two-tone colour scheme that follows the Great Western Railway standard.
Most of the interior features have been lost, but the original slate floor remains in the kitchen of the house.
