Description
The Limited Bookshop features a two-storey, four-window High Victorian gabled front, dating from 1886. It has a slate roof with wide boarded eaves. At the gable, a lion carries a shield inscribed "R W & S 1886," positioned above a heavily moulded cornice and a panelled fascia that includes inset glazed tiles. The façade is divided by pilasters with foliated capitals and carved heads on both floors, with a cornice running between the first and ground floors. The ground floor has a recessed shop front with a three-light window on the left, supported by cusped timber brackets over panelled reveals adorned with inset glazed tiles depicting animals, and a broad glazed entrance on the right. The side elevations are constructed of rubble and feature horned sashes on the upper floor.
Inside, the open-plan layout retains original details such as stop-chamfered beams, cusped timber braces, and a broad staircase with a Gothic balustrade. The building has a seven-bay open roof supported by cast-iron trusses, with a narrower four-bay range at the rear.
