Description
The byre at Pencelli Court is a 19th-century building constructed of rubble that was once limewashed, featuring a corrugated roof and boulder footings. This rectangular structure is positioned adjacent to the barn and byre range connected to the main house, with a cobbled yard in between. The main facade has boarded doors leading to three doorways, originally five, with small wood-framed openings in the blockings. There is a separate bay on the left, possibly intended for calves, and a dormer loft opening.
On the laneside, there is a single blocked central doorway and a low window in the right lean-to. The gable end facing the farmyard has a boarded door leading to a feed passage, complete with a dressed stone lintel, and a pitching door that provides access to the hayloft above.
Inside, the byre retains wooden troughs on stone ledges, hay racks, and some stall fittings. There is a passage leading to the rear of the stalls, and a full-height wall separates the end bay on the left.
