Description
The Calvinistic Methodist Chapel is a single-cell building constructed in 1866, featuring roughly squared uncoursed pink sandstone rubble with freestone quoins and dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The entrance front showcases an arched central doorway with a rusticated surround and keyed head, flanked by tall arched windows on either side, which have long and short quoins and consist of 16 over 20 panes. Rusticated quoin pilasters and a string course run across at frieze level. The gable end is pedimented and adorned with scalloped bargeboards, while a central roundel framed with rope moulding displays the inscription "CALVINISTIC HOPE 1866 METHODIST."
On the side elevation, there are two arched windows, each with 20 panes. The rear gable features bargeboards and quoin pilasters but is otherwise plain, and the rear elevation is blind with a small lean-to.
Inside, the chapel is very plain, containing painted Gothic style pews and a 'set fawr' situated in a niched alcove.
