Description
The dovecote at Trewyn House is an octagonal structure built in red brick, set on a stone rubble plinth, and topped with a tile roof and a wooden turret. The brickwork is laid in English Garden Wall bond. Each of the eight faces features a tall arched niche, with a doorway located at the base of one face. A timber modillion cornice adorns the top, and the octagonal roof is finished with lead rolls. The turret has an arched opening on each face and is capped with a tented lead roof, which is topped by a ship weathervane.
Inside, the dovecote is lined with nesting boxes, each equipped with a projecting brick cill, with a total of either 764 or 831 boxes. It includes a central revolving post and a potence ladder. The original roof structure is cross framed, though it has been modernized with felt and battening.
