Description
Blaencefn Chapel is a Calvinistic Methodist chapel built in 1837 from coursed rubble stone, featuring a lateral facade facing west and a slate roof. The exterior includes two long arched small paned windows with marginal glazing bars, and two ledged doors topped with traceried overlights and sandstone voussoirs above cambered heads. There are also two long twelve pane sash windows for the gallery. A small slate plaque is located at the center of the facade.
The south end wall is rendered and has one twelve pane sash window for the gallery. The rear east wall is also rendered and features one twelve pane sash window for the gallery along with two eighteen pane sash windows at ground level. The north end is constructed of rubble stone and includes a gallery light with stone voussoirs.
Inside, the chapel has a three-sided gallery supported by two iron columns with leaf capitals made by Woodward of Cardigan. The gallery features chamfered corners, a cornice, and horizontal panels between panelled piers. The seating consists of pitch pine pews, and the pulpit has balustered steps on each side and a three-sided front. The ceiling is flat and has a herring-bone boarding design.
