Description
Pontcowin is a farmhouse consisting of two parallel ranges. The front range features whitewashed stucco with a slate roof that has close eaves and three small brick chimneys. It is two stories tall with a main part that has three windows and a one-window service range, which was added later as indicated by a straight joint. The building has a single roof. The upper windows are hornless 12-pane sashes, while the lower part has tripartite 4-12-4-pane sashes. The central entrance to the main part is in a red brick late 19th-century gabled porch, which has an elliptical arched doorway and shaped bargeboards. The porch contains a late 19th-century five-panel door with a five-pane overlight featuring arch-headed panes, and all windows have slate sills. The service range has a door in the right end wall. The front garden is enclosed by a low whitewashed rubble wall with slate coping and late 19th-century railings that have a matching gate.
The rear range is constructed of whitewashed rubble stone and is of similar length to the front range, but it does not have a straight joint. It also has a single roof with three brick stacks, one of which is truncated on the left. The main part on the right has five horned 12-pane sashes above, arranged irregularly, with one on the ground floor to the right and another to the left, the latter not aligned with the windows above. Between these is an added brick lean-to porch with a board door and slate roof. The service part to the left has a board door and one similar sash window on each floor. All openings feature stone voussoirs and slate sills, with a door in the end wall of the service range. The building has not been inspected.
