Description

2 The Esplanade is a terraced house, part of a row of four originally designed to be similar. The house features painted stucco with a low-pitched slate roof and a red brick chimney stack on the left side. It has deep eaves supported by paired deep brackets that are interrupted by the heads of the windows. The building consists of two bays and two storeys.

On the first floor, there is a drip course that steps over the windows and a sill band. The left side has a tripartite sash window with a 2-2-2-pane configuration, while the right side has a 2-pane hornless sash window. The ground floor features a canted bay window on the left with horned sashes in a 2-2-2-pane arrangement, flanked by thin raised piers with console brackets. This bay window has a banded frieze and a deep cornice that projects forward over the piers. To the right, there is a doorcase with arched panels on the piers, console brackets, and a cornice. The door has a rectangular overlight above it, and there is a steep flight of steps leading down to the pavement.

However, No 2 has had all its windows replaced with uPVC, and the door has also been changed. Additionally, it has lost its front railings and gate.
