Description

No 1, including the front wall, railings, and gate, is a terraced house dating from the 19th century. It features painted stucco with a low-pitched slate roof and a red brick chimney stack on the left side. The house has deep eaves supported by paired deep brackets that are interrupted by the window heads. Each house consists of two bays and two storeys. The first floor has a drip course that steps over the windows, a sill band, a tripartite 2-2-2-pane sash window on the left, and a 2-pane hornless sash window on the right.

On the ground floor, there is a canted bay window on the left with 2-2-2-pane horned sashes, flanked by thin raised piers with console brackets. This section also features a banded frieze and a deep cornice that is broken forward over the piers. To the right, there is a doorcase with arched panels on the piers, console brackets, and a cornice. The front door of No 1 has been replaced with uPVC and includes a rectangular overlight. There is a steep flight of steps leading down to the pavement.

The low front garden wall is made of dressed stone and topped with cast iron coping. It has cast iron railings designed with interlocking ovals and finials. The gate posts are made of cast iron in a baluster style with ball finials, and the gate matches the railings but features a pattern break at the lock rail.
