Description

No 8 is a terrace house dating from the 19th century, featuring painted stucco and a low-pitched slate roof with a red brick chimney stack on the left. The house has deep eaves supported by paired deep brackets that are interrupted by the window heads. It is composed of two bays and stands two storeys tall. The first floor includes a drip course that steps over the windows, a sill band, and originally had a tripartite 2-2-2-pane sash window on the left and a 2-pane hornless sash window on the right. The ground floor has a canted bay window on the left with 2-2-2-pane horned sashes, flanked by thin raised piers with console brackets, a banded frieze, and a deep cornice that breaks forward over the piers. All windows have been replaced with UPVC. To the right, there is a doorcase with arched panels on the piers, console brackets, and a cornice above. The entrance features a four-panel door, which is a replacement, along with a rectangular overlight. A steep flight of steps leads down to the pavement.

The low front garden wall is made of dressed stone and topped with cast iron coping, accompanied by cast iron railings featuring interlocking ovals and finials. The gate posts are made of cast iron baluster-type with ball finials, and the gate mirrors the design of the railings but has a pattern break at the lock rail. Matching iron railings step up to the right of the path leading to the front door.
