Description

Bryn Roma is an end terrace house that is larger than the other eight houses in the row. It features a large gabled cross-wing on the left, while the entrance bay on the right matches the rest of the terrace. The house is constructed of red brick with a chimney stack located to the left of the entrance bay and on the side wall of the cross-wing. The exterior is finished in painted stucco and has slate roofs.

The right bay has deep eaves supported by two pairs of deep brackets, a string course that steps over the upper window, and a sill band. The upper sash window has been replaced with UPVC glazing. The ground floor has a plinth and an ornate stucco doorcase with arched panels on the piers, scrolled console brackets, and a cornice that breaks forward over the consoles, featuring a dentil course below. The entrance includes a 20th-century door with a rectangular overlight.

The left cross-wing gable end is slightly advanced and features a bold dentil course on the bargeboards. The house has two storeys and an attic, with rusticated quoins and a plinth. The attic has a segmental-arched moulded surround with a vermiculated keystone. Throughout the house, there is 20th-century uPVC glazing.

A large two-storey canted bay window is present, with a broader bay on the ground floor that has a sloping lead roof. The upper bay window features cast-iron cresting in a Gothic pattern. Original thin piers flank the windows, with console brackets and original cornices that break forward over the piers. There are stepped friezes and dentils under the cornice moulding.

Access to the house includes three steps down to a pathway that leads to steps on the left down to the pavement and a left-hand gate. The front garden is enclosed by a low rubble wall, with a cast-iron gate and railings that match those found elsewhere along the terrace. The railings feature an intersecting oval pattern with finials, and the gateposts are of the turned baluster type, matching the gate. Similar railings step up between No 9 and No 8.
