Description
The War Memorial is a large tapering cairn made of rubble stone, square in shape, and is elevated above the roadside on an embanked platform. It is accessed by two narrow, curving flights of rough steps, which lead up from an entry that is recessed between two rubble stone terrace walls. The base step of the cairn features a red granite plaque listing names from the 1939-45 period. Above this, there is a plinth with an affixed ashlar plaque that displays a laurel wreath and crossed swords. On the main face of the memorial, a plain red granite cross is inscribed with "The Great War 1914-18" across the top and "In memory of the fallen heroes of Taliaris parish" at the base, along with seven names on a panel below.
