Description
The War Memorial, built in 1928, is a cairn-like structure made from small limestone boulders arranged in a random pattern, similar to local dry stone walling. It supports a large boulder on the side facing the road, into which a bronze plaque is set. The plaque features a laurel wreath and lists the names of the Fallen in relief lettering, along with the inscription "TO THE MEMORY OF THE MEN OF HARPUR HILL WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1919." The stone used for the memorial was sourced from Hoffman Quarry, where many of the men commemorated were employed.
