Description
Hillhead Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse constructed from coursed rubble limestone with gritstone dressings. It features end ridge stacks, one made of brick and the other of stone, and has a stone slated roof. The building has a double pile plan and stands two storeys high with two bays, presenting a symmetrical elevation that includes 2-light flush mullioned windows. The ground floor opening at the west end has been altered, while the remaining openings have 20th-century joinery. The central doorway is framed with quoined surround and has a plain door. At the west end, there is a two-storey outbuilding that is set back from the main range, featuring a stone framed doorway and a stone stairway leading to an overloft. Additionally, there is an open fronted lean-to attached at the east end.
