Description
Cowdale Hall is a farmhouse dated 1637, featuring the initials EB and AB on a stone set into the south wall, along with later remodelling. The building is constructed from coursed rubble limestone with gritstone dressings, and it has coped gables on the west range, as well as quoins and both intermediate and end ridge stacks, one of which has a moulded cornice and drip. The layout is in a 'T' plan, with an advanced crosswing at the west end. The farmhouse is two storeys high and originally had three bays with 3-light flush mullioned windows, though these have largely been replaced by 20th-century joinery. The crosswing features a flush surround for former sash windows, which are now also fitted with 20th-century joinery. Inside, there is a stone newel stair and a stone surround to a hearth.
