Description
Naphill War Memorial is located at the corner of a crossroad, next to the village hall. It is designed as a smooth-sided cairn made of local sandstone, consisting of several large stones with smaller stones filling the gaps, all held together with mortar. The memorial is set on a square dais made of random-rubble stone, featuring stone plaques on two sides. The front plaque has the inscription:
A STONE/ OF/ REMEMBRANCE/ TO THE/ MEN OF NAPHILL/ WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR
The plaque on the northeast side lists the names of ten men from Naphill who died during the Great War, along with the names of two men who fell in the Second World War. Surrounding the memorial is an area of 'crazy' paving, a style that became popular in the inter-war period, within a small garden of remembrance enclosed by a low random-rubble stone wall.
