Description

The war memorial, built in 1924, features a bronze soldier dressed in a greatcoat and cap, holding a reversed rifle. This figure stands on a tapering grey granite pedestal that is inscribed with the names of those who fell in service. The front of the pedestal has an incised panel with the inscription "1914-19," while the side displays a similar panel with the inscription "1939-45." The memorial is set on a granite plinth and is accessed by three granite steps. Surrounding the memorial and the lawns to the east and west is a low chain-link fence, which includes two chains for each section, supported by short cast-iron posts topped with ball finials, all resting on a rendered plinth.
