Description
The coach-house at Rhyd-y-garreg-ddu is a Grade II listed building constructed in 1866 by Mr. Jacob Jones. It is built from white-painted rubble stone and features a slate roof. The front has two central arched entries, which are framed by painted stone voussoirs and fitted with double plank doors. Above these entries is a plaque that interrupts an irregular row of dove-holes.
To the left, there is a lofted section that includes a small 4-pane window on the ground floor, also with painted stone voussoirs, and a 9-pane loft light positioned above it, slightly to the right under the eaves. An outside stone staircase on the left end wall has whitewashed risers and stone treads, leading up to a loft door in the end wall. Additionally, there is a small single pane window on the left side of the rear wall.
The roof consists of five bays supported by stapled pine collar trusses.
