Description
Carmarthen Cemetery Chapel is a cemetery chapel constructed from rubble stone with ashlar dressings and a slate gabled roof. The west gable end features buttresses on either side that are gabled at mid-height and at the top. Below the coping, there is a broad ashlar band with small plain corbel blocks. At the apex, there is a blocking course with gabled ashlar masonry above, likely the truncated remains of a bellcote. The gable includes a roundel window with an ashlar trefoil above a moulded pointed ashlar doorway, which has mouldings that die into chamfered jambs. The doorway is topped with a hoodmould that has carved head stops, and it features double ledged doors with iron strap hinges.
On the north and south side elevations, there are two pairs of 2-light lancet windows with leaded glazing, a sill band, and small corbels under the eaves gutters. Each end has a gabled buttress against a raised wall-pier. The east gable is coped and features a short lower chancel. The interior is plain, with plastered walls, an open timber roof, and a small chancel.
