Description

The Grange is a large detached house built of red brick with painted Bath stone details. It features a slate, deep-eaved hipped roof with a deep painted eaves band and cornice. The house has two storeys and an attic, comprising three bays. All windows are plate-glass sashes with painted Bath stone heads, brick jambs or mullions, rounded moulding, and painted sills. There are three brick gabled dormers with slate roofs. On the first floor, there is a central sash window flanked by tripartite mullion windows. A stepped brick course runs between the windows at the head level.

On the ground floor, there are large semi-circular bay windows with painted stone cornices and brick parapets, each containing four sash windows. The central doorway is framed by simple brick piers with stone bases and large brackets supporting a flat corniced hood. The door is six-panelled, featuring a brass knocker and a round central doorknob, along with an overlight that has two arched lights.

To the left side of the house, there is a 20th-century lean-to garage with a hipped slate roof. The two bays to the right have eaves similar to the front elevation and feature two large sash windows on the first floor. The lower rear section has smaller sash windows on the first and second floors, with brick voussoirs and no eaves cornice.

The right side has two bays on the left that are two storeys high, with eaves and windows similar to the front. The rear section is one storey and has two bays. Although not inspected, plans indicate a central hall passage with a dining room to the left, a drawing room to the right, a morning room to the rear right, and a kitchen to the rear left.
