Clearbrook Lodge and Meadow Cottage (at Clearbrook)

Clearbrook Lodge and Meadow Cottage is a two-storey estate building dating from the 19th century, designed in a simple picturesque style. The building features a distinctive broad and symmetrical front made of rubble, which was formerly whitewashed, and has a hipped slate roof with wide boarded eaves.

At the center, there is a cambered carriage arch with inward curving jambs and brick voussoirs. Other openings on the front have freestone voussoirs. Above the arch is a tall, semicircular-headed former loft opening, which is set within an attic gable that is slate-hung on the sides and features wave-moulded bargeboards and a pendant finial. Flanking this are small wheel windows situated above acutely pointed ground floor window openings that contain square-headed casements.

The carriage arch is filled with a four-panel semi-glazed screen that incorporates double doors, while the loft opening above has two similar panels with a fanlight. The wheel windows have radial glazing bars, and the pointed windows have a transom and two casements.

The side elevations each have two windows and are constructed in rubble with quoins, featuring a restored boarded door and yellow brick window surrounds, as well as restored tripartite sash windows. The rear elevation is a simplified version of the front, which has been restored, rendered, and painted cream. Additionally, there is a low rear yard enclosure wall that is also rendered and painted.
