Description
Cae Gwynion Uchaf Farmhouse is a symmetrical, two-storey building with an attic, featuring a three-window front that is painted render. The outer bays have broad gables adorned with decorative bargeboards, pendants, and finials. The roof is slate, with a cement rendered chimney stack at each end. The windows are four-pane sash style, with Tudor labels in the attic and deep bracketed labels on the first floor. The ground floor has splayed bay windows flanking a central entrance that includes a half-glazed door with colored glass details, as well as sidelights and overlights. There is an overall veranda on the ground floor supported by cast iron columns.
The gable ends and rear of the building are constructed of rubble, featuring quoins and sash glazing, with a central cross range. There is a pitched roof coach house range with finials on the gabled end, which has a cambered arch opening with voussoirs and double doors.
To the left, a rubble wall extends to a freestone pier and a segmental arched doorway at the corner near the horse engine house. On the right, the wall forms quadrant wings on either side of the cambered arch, which have been recently rebuilt.
Inside, the house remains largely unaltered, showcasing panelled doors and iron ceiling roses in the front rooms.
