Description
The gate to Carmarthen Park from Picton Terrace is a Grade II listed pedestrian entrance. It features simple wrought iron gates that are flanked by railings on dwarf stone walls, set between stone piers. The gates have plain uprights topped with finials and include double horizontal bars at the top and near the bottom, which extend through the flanking railings. The outer uprights of the gate are scroll-topped, and there are diagonal cross-braces with a central roundel and an elegant catch. An attached plate bears the inscription: "This gate was presented by H.E. Richards Esq. of Picton Terrace, Carmarthen AD 1900." The gate posts are square in section and topped with urn finials. There is a short length of railings on each side of the dwarf limestone wall. The outer piers are square in section, made of grey dressed limestone, and feature hipped cap stones.
