Description

Pont Llandeilo-yr-ynys is a fine limestone bridge dating to an unknown period, situated partly within the Llanegwad Community. The bridge consists of three equal spans, each approximately 15 metres long. It is constructed from randomly coursed masonry. The carriageway is about 3.6 metres wide between the parapets. The semicircular arches are formed with deep, narrow ashlar voussoirs, notably lacking keystones. Cutwater buttresses are positioned between the arches, both upstream and downstream, and extend upwards to create pedestrian refuges. The parapets feature large, flat rock-faced copings which fan out slightly at each end.
