Description
The West Limekiln at Croft Quarries in Blaencilgoed is a well-preserved, boldly projecting semicircular kiln, measuring about 10 meters in diameter and approximately 8 meters in height. It is constructed of uncoursed rubble limestone and features numerous beam or putlog holes in the masonry. The kiln is situated against high ground, with revetment wings on each side. It has opposed working apertures, each adorned with corbelling and an arch at the front. A small parapet remains at the top of the structure.
