Description
The Central Limekiln at Croft Quarries in Blaencilgoed is a well-preserved, boldly projecting semicircular kiln, measuring about 10 meters in diameter and approximately 8 meters in height. It is constructed from rubble limestone, which is roughly arranged in courses, with small offsets at intervals to create a slight batter. The masonry features numerous beam or putlog holes. The kiln is positioned against high ground, with revetment wings on either side. It has opposed working apertures, each featuring corbelling and an arch at the front. A small parapet remains at the top.
