Description

The Former Masonic Hall is a two-storey building with a painted stucco or Bath stone front and rubble stone sides. It features three bays set within a grand Corinthian portico supported by six columns, which are spaced to create a wider gap in the center. The building has a full entablature with a modillion cornice and a pediment, which extends slightly on either side of the portico and is complemented by stucco quoins at the outer angles.

On the first floor within the portico, there are three 4-pane sash windows framed by moulded architraves. The ground floor includes a door, wider double doors, and a 4-pane window, all adorned with cornices on console brackets. The doors are modern and have plain overlights. The portico is elevated by a flight of four broad cemented steps. To the right, there are basement steps, iron spearhead railings, and iron gatepiers. The side wall facing Salutation Square is windowless and made of rubble stone, while the rear gable is slate-hung above a rendered lean-to.

The interior has been significantly altered. The main hall features a ceiling with a plain roundel, a moulded ceiling border, and a cornice. The gallery at the north end has been modified, but it may still contain a reused iron rail. Some wall pilasters remain visible.
