Description

Orielton Field Centre is a building constructed from roughcast rubble stone, featuring a stucco entrance block and hipped slate roofs, which were previously grouted. The entrance block is two stories high with three windows, and it has rendered end stacks and a tall central lantern. The lantern has a slate-hung base with chamfered angles, a timber top with chamfered panelled angles, and round-arched, louvred openings on the main sides. It is topped with a dentilled cornice and a lead octagonal ogee cap with a ball finial and iron vane.

On the first floor, there is a 4-pane sash window to the left, a longer 12-pane sash window in the center, and another 12-pane sash window to the right. The ground floor features a 12-pane 20th-century window on each side of a broad cambered entry, which has grey ashlar voussoirs and double ledged doors. There is also a door to the ground floor on the right.

Attached to each side of the entrance block are windowless, unpainted roughcast, single-storey ranges that are hipped at the ends. The front facing the courtyard has a similar arch, with 12-pane sashes above and 12-pane windows below, each accompanied by a door and overlight. The left range contains doors and 16-pane sashes arranged in a DWDWDW pattern, while the right range has a similar WDWD pattern followed by two tripartite 4-12-4 pane sashes and three doors.

The rest of the courtyard is enclosed by a detached U-plan block with hipped roofs on the eastern end. The eastern front features three blocked central coach entries with cambered heads, followed by doors and 18-pane sashes arranged in a DWDWDW pattern, with the last window being narrow. To the left, there is a similar DWDWDW arrangement with 24-pane sashes, except for a narrow 18-pane sash in the northeast angle. The northern range has three long 18-pane windows, a door, a 24-pane window, and another door. The southern side includes two doors, four 24-pane windows, and an additional door.
