Description

Nolands is a house featuring painted stucco and consists of three connected sections, with a central block set back between two projecting hipped wings. It has a small, railed forecourt. The roofs are slate close-eaved, gabled on the main range, and there are brick stacks. The building is two storeys high with a basement.

The double-fronted central range has a 20th-century four-panel door set in a gabled timber porch that has a slate roof, dwarf rendered walls, and glazed sides. Each side of the central range has four-pane sash windows on both floors, with painted stone sills.

The left wing includes a later 20th-century panelled timber door on the west side. The north end features a matching four-pane sash window on the upper storey, while the ground floor has a tripartite sash window with a 2-6-2-pane configuration in a timber surround with a stone sill. On the east side, there is a tall brick stack and a 12-pane sash window on the first floor to the left.

The right wing has a blank east wall. The north end has a 12-pane sash window on the first floor and a 20th-century small-paned projecting bay window on the ground floor, which is rounded and has three 6-pane casements beneath two-pane top-lights. There is also a nine-pane 20th-century casement window on the first floor of the west side near the north return.

Bargeboards and rainwater goods were replaced in the later 20th century, and there is a 20th-century basement window on the east side.

The front courtyard is enclosed by a curved dwarf rendered wall that supports decorative wrought-iron railings with spearheads flanked by scrolls. There is a mid-height rail with similar spearheads above and dog-bars below. The central gates match the style of the railings, featuring wrought-iron scrolls and spearheads above the top rail, and are ramped down to the meeting stile.
