Description
The Castle Hotel is a former coaching inn, built with painted roughcast and featuring a slate gabled roof that projects at the eaves, along with large roughcast end stacks. The building has four storeys and a three-window range of sash windows set in stuccoed moulded frames. The top floor has square 12-pane sashes, the second floor has 16-pane sashes, the first floor features 24-pane sashes, and the ground floor has two low tripartite 4-12-4-pane sashes, with a wide doorway to the right in a similar frame.
On the left gable end facing High Street, there are windows in similar frames: a 9-pane square sash on the ground floor to the right, two 15-pane sashes on the first floor to the left, two 12-pane sashes on the second floor to the left, and one 12-pane sash on the top floor.
The interior has been altered on the ground and first floors, while the upper floors have not been inspected.
