Description
26 Hamilton Terrace is a pair of houses built around 1800, featuring roughcast and stucco exteriors with slate roofs. They have a red brick end stack and are three stories tall. The houses have a three-window range, with two windows for No 26 and one window for No 26A. No 26A was restored around 1990 by B E Minter. No 26 is finished in unpainted dry-dash with plain stucco surrounds around the windows, while No 26A is painted stucco with raised stucco surrounds and a quoin pilaster at the southeast angle.
No 26 has plate glass sash windows, whereas No 26A features renewed small-paned sashes, with a six-pane window above and a twelve-pane window on the first and ground floors. No 26 includes a ground floor tripartite sash window to the left of a camber-headed doorway, which has a nine-panel door with an overlight. No 26A has a rear wing with an arched door and an eighteen-pane stair light above.
Both houses have early 19th-century dog-leg staircases with stick balusters and ramped rails. Additionally, No 26 features an elliptical arch between the front and rear rooms.
