Description
30 Market Street is a terraced building that dates from the late 19th century. It has a roughcast exterior with an eaves roof and a red brick stack that has been rebuilt at the left end. The building stands three storeys high and features one bay. It has a timber modillion eaves cornice that is interrupted by the top of a two-storey canted oriel, which rests on the shopfront below. The oriel has a moulded top cornice, but its fenestration has been boarded over since 2005.
The shop window, also from the late 19th century, has a right end that is canted in towards a recessed half-glazed door. Although the shop window has been boarded over since 2005, it is said to have part of it canted outwards in a shape similar to the bay above. Timber Ionic columns are located at either end of the shopfront, although the left column is missing the volutes of its capital. In 1971, the shop windows had glazing bars, but the sashes of the oriel did not.
The interior is not accessible, but it is reported to contain all 19th-century details. The cellar features a moulded beam that dates back to the 17th century.
