Description
The Training Ship Skirmisher is a former warehouse built from rubble stone, featuring a slate hipped roof that was once grouted. This substantial four-storey building has six windows on its facade, with the rear section built into the bank. The small windows are primarily metal six-pane designs, adorned with red brick cambered heads and slate sills, while the upper windows under the eaves are smaller in size.
On the second floor, there is a blocked loading door opening in the third bay from the right, and on the first floor, a door in a similar position has been infilled to create a window. The ground floor includes four windows, a broad brick depressed-arched entry to the left, and a doorway to the right that is set out of alignment. The end elevations each consist of two bays and have window openings only on the upper floors, with all windows on the south end wall blocked. The rear elevation has access via a 20th-century footbridge leading to a loading door in the right bay of the second floor.
Inside, the ground floor is subdivided, and the ceilings are supported by joists made of pine.
