Description

The Dinas Arms is a former public house built from rubble stone and features two storeys with a slate roof that is hipped at the front. The first floor has exposed stone, while the ground floor is clad in colourwashed roughcast. On the first floor, there are two large 18-pane sash windows with a rendered mullion between them, which replaced a triple sash window without glazing bars in 1978. The ground floor has a door on the left and large 20-pane sashes in the centre and to the right, which replaced a late 19th century to early 20th century window on the right and a doorway on the left, all set within a casing of pilasters, fascia, and cornice.

On the northeast side facing Newport Road, there is a complex of lean-to additions. The first is a lean-to made of colourwashed stone rubble with a slate roof, which was previously cemented. It has one small 20th-century window facing the front and one similar window on each floor facing Newport Road. This lean-to is angled to a larger outshut that features a 5-pane 20th-century window on each floor. To the right, there is an outbuilding at right angles with a monopitch roof.

The elevation facing Quay Street is finished in colourwashed roughcast and is blank to the right, which is the end of the front range. The centre has large 16-pane sash windows on each floor, replacing a 20th-century casement window above a 4-pane sash. The right side of this elevation is three storeys high with two windows, featuring small square 6-pane sashes under the eaves. The first floor has sash windows of different lengths, with a 12-pane window on the left and a 9-pane window on the right. On the ground floor, there is a square 12-pane sash window to the left and a 20th-century panelled door with a shallow overlight to the right.
