Description
Allied House is a four-storey warehouse built of rubble stone with a slate roof. It features a gable end facing the street and has six bays on its sides. The stonework includes a significant amount of grey limestone at the corners and around the openings, mixed with brown stone in the walling. The openings have modern black brick sills and mostly consist of single-pane casements. The gable end has a pair of casements in the attic and former loading doors on the second and first floors. The ground floor shop has a central door within a stuccoed surround, flanked by 20th-century plate glass shop windows with timber lintels.
The sides of the building have smaller windows under the eaves on the top floor, with voussoirs above the other windows. Many ground floor windows are blocked due to the rising ground. At the rear, facing Ebenezer Row, there is a pair of casements in the gable and a door leading up modern outside stone steps to the second floor level. To the left, there is a broad doorway with a 20th-century door and infill into the first floor, which is at ground level on this end.
Inside, the ground floor features six massive beams.
