Description

7 Dew Street is a late 19th-century house and shop, originally with a painted roughcast exterior, a close-eaved slate roof and a rendered brick stack at the left end. The building is two storeys high with an attic, and has a three-window front. Three small gabled dormers with slate cheeks and six-pane windows are visible in the attic. The first floor has three plate glass sash windows set in moulded surrounds, and a similar window is present on the ground floor to the left. The remainder of the ground floor features a broad, late 19th-century shop front with casing framing the shop window, a house door to the left, and a through-passage door to the right. Panelled piers are located to the left of the house door and at the extreme right, ornamented with paired long brackets above, incorporating a fascia and tiny modillions to the cornice. The building has 20th-century doors with overlights. The shop front includes a plate glass window, with a smaller pane canted to the right, leading to a recessed, part-glazed door with an overlight. The interior has been altered, but a cast-iron column remains in the window position.
