Description
The Kings Arms is an inn, likely dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. It is constructed of painted roughcast and stucco, with a slate roof and rendered stacks at the right end and along the ridge. The building comprises a three-bay main section and a one-bay section to the left, sharing similar detailing. The upper floors are roughcast, above a painted stucco band over a stuccoed ground floor. The upper floor windows are set within stuccoed surrounds with shouldered detailing; the main section has three hornless 6-pane sashes over three long plate glass sashes, while the left section has uPVC glazing in both the top and first-floor windows. The ground floor of the main section features a renewed 12-pane sash to the right and a renewed 4-12-4-pane sash to the left of a recessed entrance. The entrance consists of a six-panel flush door, flanked by channelled pilasters with moulded caps and bases. The left section has two wooden boarded doors leading to a throughway and a renewed 12-pane sash window to the right. A stuccoed plinth runs along the base of the building, and raised lettering, likely dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, is positioned between the main part and the left section, reading 'Kings Arms Hotel'.
The ground floor interior has been opened out and the walls stripped of plaster. Original slate-flagged floors remain, and the ceilings are supported by pine joists. An archway leads to a rear staircase, which is a dog-leg design with closed strings, stick balusters and turned column newels.
