Description

The Timber Pond is a large, square-shaped structure featuring granite coping. It has a sloping eastern side with stone paving and rock-faced limestone side walls. On the northern side, there is a prominent elliptical arched drain mouth, and another outlet to the sea is located on the western side. The pond was constructed in 1844 on land that was originally outside the western wall of the dockyard, utilizing the foundations of the wall for the eastern edge of the pond, which was then rebuilt to the west.
