Description

The Western Camber is an early 19th-century square tidal basin featuring high walls made of limestone ashlar with granite coping stones. On the west side, there is a flight of concrete steps leading down, accompanied by an adjoining ramp. The northern end of the steps has been filled in with concrete. The original west wall is inscribed with the markings: 'H.W. 12/2/99', 'Ordinance Trig Survey 1841', and height figures in Roman numerals.
