Description
Carr Jetty is approached by a six-arch broad bridge that connects it to the foreshore. The structure features tooled granite facings and engineering-brick arches, with cambered arches supported by long voussoir blocks and raised keystones beneath a bull-nose cornice and parapet. There are raised piers between the arches, which have rounded angles and block capitals under the cornice, where the cornice is broken forward and the parapet piers are raised. The coping is made of granite. The jetty is angled to the northwest, providing a long mooring area on the northeast side, and has an L-plan at the northwest end to allow for mooring along the northwest side. The northeast side is faced in granite with granite dressings and copings, and includes a flight of steps leading down. The northwest end is similar in design, as is the projecting west end, while the southwest side of the jetty appears to be faced in concrete, also with granite copings.
