Description

Cilwendeg Villa is an early 19th-century former laundry building. It features roughcast walls with prominent Cilgerran stone dressings and a hipped slate roof. The structure is two storeys high and has heavy square stone blocks at the eaves cornice, except for the slightly projected central bay on the north and south sides, where there is a plain eaves band. The building has a three-window range, with a Cilgerran stone plinth, band, and rusticated quoins at the outer and central bay angles, as well as around all window surrounds.

Both the north and south fronts are identical, each with a recessed broad arched entry at ground level and a lunette on either side. The first floor features circular windows on each side and a large lunette in the center. The west and east ends also have similar ground floor broad arches and large lunettes above. The upper floor lunettes contain tripartite glazing with intersecting glazing bars for hornless sashes, although the center on the north side is blank. The ground floor lunettes have simpler 20th-century glazing, with a blank space on the left side of the north. The roundels have radiating-bar glazing, and the broad arches are partly infilled with doors on the north and south sides, and windows on the east and west sides. The west end also includes a plain door on the left and a porch with a pitched roof, quoins, and a south side entry on the right.
