Description
Oakhill in Penylan is a two-storey building dating from the 19th century, featuring a facade made of Cut Cilgerran stone and a slate roof with deep eaves supported by paired brackets. The front has a three-window range, with the central section being slightly advanced and topped with a pediment that includes a blank roundel. On the first floor, there are three 12-pane hornless sash windows, each adorned with cut stone voussoirs. Below, the ground floor has three segmental-arched coach entries, each with raised imposts and keystones, and a raised band above them.
The wings on either side were originally lofted stables, which had a roughcast finish and a Cilgerran stone plinth. Each wing features two 12-pane sash windows and a Cilgerran stone band, although much of the roughcast has been removed. The right stable remains largely unaltered, while the left has been modified with early 20th-century garage doors on the ground floor and two loft windows, with their sills breaking the band. The left end gable contains a pair of loft casement windows. At the rear of the main range, there is an end wall with outside stairs leading to a former loft door, along with 20th-century rear windows. Behind the right wing, there is a roofless barn addition from around 1920.
The interiors date from the 20th century, with some remnants of the original four-stall stables still visible in the wings.
