Description
The walls and railings of Deer Park Baptist Church are set in a forecourt and date from the 19th century. The structure features limestone walls with rock-faced coping that support Gothic-style iron railings. The railings have a design of squares with encircled quatrefoils and a zigzag bottom rail. Each panel is separated by stanchions topped with Gothic flower finials. At the corners, there are stone angle piers with ashlar quoins and heavy cross-gabled ashlar caps, which are adorned with incised crosses in roundels. The forecourt is accessed through matching iron gates situated between similar piers that also hold iron lamps. The railings extend along the sides of the forecourt, creating a cohesive boundary around the church.
